One of the most popular mattress options for bargain shoppers looking for the best “bang” for their buck is the Discount Memory Foam segment. For under $750 (for the most part), shoppers can find a mattress that rivals the comfort of some of the bigger players, namely TempurPedic and to a lesser degree, Bragada.
While “cheaper,” these memory foam mattresses are ideal for several types of shoppers. This includes shoppers who are new to memory foam mattresses and want to try out the product without investing a substantial amount of money. By spending less, if the comfort and support fall short of expectations, then the cash outlay doesn’t “hurt” as much. Also, shoppers who have an existing higher-priced mattress and are in love with the comfort and support more than the brand name will also find tremendous value here. In reality, a lower-end TempurPedic mattress offers little more (if anything) than a higher end discount memory foam mattress at a fraction of the cost. And since memory foam mattresses are made of polyurethane foam and a potpourri of chemicals to give the foam its comfort qualities, there is only so much quality any manufacturer can infuse into them. So why pay more?
Evidently, there is a strong case for the discount brands. And with there being so much accessibility to the market, the ultimate winners are the consumers. The key players in this segment (listed alphabetically) are as follows:
Dynasty Mattresses: Definitely one of the favorite brands purchased through our site, Dynasty offers very popular models that range in cost from under $500 all the way up to just under $1,000. Their Gel Bed option costs a little under $650 as of December 1, 2012. You can check out the wide range of Dynasty options through Amazon when you click here. Dynasty mattresses rate well among their owners and for that reason is a brand we endorse (see Earnings Disclaimer).
Lucid Mattresses: A new addition to the mattresses we cover at qmattresses.com, Lucid offers a solid line up of memory foam mattresses that bring several layers to the market where some of the other brands don’t. At a price comparable and sometimes even lower than its competitors listed here, Lucid is a “must see” brand for any discount shopper. The Lucid Mattress Reviews page is found here on our site.
Novaform Mattresses: Sold almost exclusively through Costco, Novaform offers an excellent alternative to the higher-priced competitors on the market. The only problem is that you have to be a Costco member in order to get through the doors to check these fine mattresses out for yourself. If you are a member, then consider the Novaform mattress – not only will you get a good quality product that comes with rave reviews (from customers) but you will get the unparalleled backing of Costco.
Sleep Innovations: Another favorite among shoppers, Sleep Innovations has been offering high quality sleep solutions for years. Probably best-known for their Novaform Mattress, which is sold through Costco, Sleep Innovations also offers a brand under its own name. Their line up consists of 8″, 10″ and 12″ memory foam mattresses, as well as mattress toppers. Our Sleep Innovations Mattresses page offers reviews and other information for shoppers.
Again, the discount memory foam segment offers an excellent selection of mattresses for people who are new to memory foam mattresses (it’s a cheaper investment spending thousands on the market-leader, TempurPedic) and those who refuse to sleep on any other type of mattress but who prefer to save their money rather than pay (or over-pay as many will argue) on a mattress just because of its name.
