I am a 280 pound male, whose had cervical fusion and has lower back problems. I’ve had temper-pedic, and jamison beds most recently. The Jamison is a latex foam mattress. I and my wife have looked at the Stearns and Foster Estate Shantel Luxury Plus. I’ve had problems with inner springs sagging after a few months. These last 2 mattresses have caused me back pain after about 6 months. Is this a good mattress to look at and do you have any other suggestions? We also looked at the GS Stearns mattress as well. What is a fair price to pay?
The GS is an exclusive for that store and they rock you on the price because you can’t shop it.
The Shantel won’t hold up under your weight.
For a large man with severe back issues, an all foam mattress, be it memory foam or latex, has shown to be a mistake in the past.
First off, if you call the BBB or the state’s Attorney General’s office about the retailer you’re considering doing business with, I guarantee you won’t want to go back once you get off the phone.
And, you’re better off…especially if you’re shopping for price.
All the ads you saw and heard that make that the first store you think of? Who, do you suppose, pays for those ads? The answer is, “You”….in the way of some of the highest retail prices in the country.
There is a mattress I want you to go and try. It will work for you…if you don’t get hung up on a “luxury” feel. A mattress is not to be thought of as a luxury item…contrary to prevalent salesmanship.
Go to Macy’s and try the Simmons Beautyrest Black Kameryn Firm. It is the same as our Simmons Beautyrest Black Ansleigh Plush/Firm…shown here.
